~~ f
LAFARGE
NORTH AMERICA
AGGREGATES, CONCRETE
& ASPHALT
C'nn~v
August 7, 2006
Chris Rowe
,~1J Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

Re: Technical Revisi~or Permit No. M-1986-079 - M&G Pit
~---
Dear Mr, Rowe,
Lafarge requests a Technical Revision (TR-6) to the Reclamation Permit No. M-1986-079 for the
M&G Pit in Adams County.
TR-5, approved August 10, 2005, allows the backfill of exposed groundwater area to two feet
above water line within a designated lake of approximately 8.85 acres. Lafarge requests that the
location of the area to be filled be adjusted to the northern end of the permit area to address
changes in surface water location. The attached map depicts both the azea approved for backfill
in 2005 and the new, equal area proposed by Lafarge.
The source of the backfill material will be overburden and other clean and inert materials such as
washed fines from nearby sand and gravel pits. The fill material will be essentially the same as
that approved with TR-5 and the backfill will be placed in a manner to meet the requirements of
3.1.5(2) of the Construction Materials Rules. Information and affidavit to address the
requirements of Rule 3.1.5 (9) (a) through (f) will be provided separately.
Mining is complete at this pit and no additional mining will take place. The financial warranty
should remain the same as that provided in 2005 as no additional work is proposed and the
warranty calculations were made less than one yeaz ago. Lafarge has also secured the necessary
local approvals required to complete the reclamation from Adams County.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 303-657-4054. Thank you.
Sincerely,
~~
Steven T.
