Since the existing vegetative cover at
the site is essentially zero, Everist Materials is not required to revegetate the
site.
However, we do agree that some vegetation on the site would help
to reclaim many environmental and aesthetic aspects of the site, including
some of the visual, wildl'rfe, air, and water quality concerns related to
harvesting this material.
You have suggested that we commft to investigate and report to
DMG on the potential to incorporate cost effective soil amendments into the
reclamation of the affected land -namely saving the screen and crusher fines
and amending same with horse manure and hay or straw to build a soil to aid
revegetation of the site.
We do wish to revegetate the site, but we do not wish to do research
on revegetating amended fines and do not wish to report to you about the
progress of the research. Therefore, as discussed, we will sign'rficantly
improve upon your suggestion and commit to plating an average of 1-inch of
soil to the site to aid the revegetation effort. That amount of soil will provide
far better vegetation than fines amended with horse manure and straw or hay.
(970) 464-1171
Also as discussed with you, we do not expect to be held to any
revegetation standards at this site (because the law requires no revegetation
of this site).
