It does not appeaz that the proposed expansion will have a
significant impact to resident and migrating wildlife. Also, there aze no known threatened or endangered wildlife
species known to occupy or visit this azea.
We would like to make the following recommendations for your consideration. First, topsoil should be stockpiled and
seeded with a temporary seed mix until ready for use in the reclamation process. Control of noxious weeds during
both mining and reclamation, should be actively pursued, to prevent infestation on site and in the sturounding azea.
The site should be reclaimed as native short grass prairie and gaded to match the surrounding topography. An
appropriate seed mixture may be obtained by consulting with local NRCS staff. Finally, the site should be fenced to
restrict access by livestock until proper vegetative cover is established and bond is released.
Thank you for providing us the opportunity to comment. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions
or require additional information.
Sincerely, ~
/% /G~/~
Mazk Konishi
SE Regional Manager
MK/WC/cas
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Russell George, Executive Director
WII.DLIFE COMMISSION, Philip James, Chair•Jeffrey Crawford, Vice-ChairBrad Phelps, Secretary
Members, Bernard Black•Tom Burke•Rick Enstrom•Claire O'Neal•Robert ShoemakerKen Torres
Ex Officio Members, Russell George and Don Ament
