TR-007 was conditionally
approved with the stipulation that "hydrogen peroxide as a
treatment for lowering the weak acid dissociable cyanide and copper
concentrations is a temporary solution, to be applied only until
the INCO SO /Air process is approved and installed. The HzOz system
shall not she used after October 15, 1992, without the express
written permission from the Division."
We currently anticipate that the INCO system will be brought on-
line during the week of October 12. With the start-up of a new
circuit, a certain amount of equipment adjusting, flow rate
adjusting of the SOZ and the air, operator training, and system
tuning is expected. The circuit will operate with greatest
efficiency after the start-up and training phase is completed.
During the start-up phase of the INCO circuit, we request to have
the option of adding hydrogen peroxide to the tailings pond to
reduce the cyanide concentrations on an as needed basis. Hydrogen
peroxide will only be used as a back-up detoxification method
during the tuning of the INCO circuit. The start-up phase is
expected to last about four weeks. We will inform you on the
progress of the INCO start-up.
P.O. BOX 310 SAN LUIS, COLORADO S 1152
(719) 672-3362 FAX (719) 672-3363
