M-1987-028) (CHS #47114)
Dear Ms. Crosby:
Based on the Colorado Guttural Resource Inventory, the Chaffee County Heritage Area
Board is aware of two cultural resources that are located within the proposed permit area
of the Lily Mines and are eligible or potentially eligible for the National Register of
Historic Places. Our Board is poised to begin a Heritage Area Management Plan for
Chaffee County with funding from the Colorado Historical Society and the Colorado
Department of Transportation. One of the purposes of the plan is to identify heritage
resources and develop a strategy with priorities for maintaining and enhancing these.
Until that plan is completed with priorities and a course of action set, we urge that these
two cultural resources within the proposed permit area be set aside as restricted areas
so that access is controlled and restrained, and that the current condition is preserved
and undisturbed. The Heritage Board is appreciative of your cooperation and will notify
you once the Management Plan is completed. At that time additional data will be
avail'a`vle, a^a Weil as the pi itZnty .^at~'at::.°. of theSL- Cuitilra~ -r@3C:: rC.^~.3.
Sincerely.
C6eryC~6rawn-7~ovacic
Dr. Cheryl Brown-Kovacic
Chair
~c~
Email: info(achaffeecountuherttage.org Web:www.chaffeecountyheritage.org
