RE: San Luis Project, Technical Revision No. 3, File No. M-88-112
Dear Mr. Dodson:
We have reviewed your technical revision request of September 26, 1989,
regarding the disposal of operating solutions and reclamation of the
Pregnant Pond at the test heap area.
The information which you have supplied indicates that the minor amount of
return solution present in the Pregnant Pond has a free cyanide content of
0.18 parts per million. This is below the detoxification standartl of 0.20
parts per million established for the San Luis Project.
Based upon industry practice and site conditions, the application of this water
to roads at the office area would be acceptable provided that the following
conditions are met:
1. The detoxified solution will be applied only to roads within the
approved permit area (M-8812) in such a manner so as to preclude
surface (overland) flow of this solution.
2. The Pregnant Pond liner will be ripped and punctured upon
back filling in such a manner so as to encourage preciplltation
infiltration through the liner upon site reclamation.
