RE: Battle Mountain Gold Company, April 23, 1991 Violation,
Report of Progress Toward Meeting Board Ordered Abatement

Battle Mountain Gold has been operating the INCO cyanide
detoxification system since October 21, 1992 and reports that the
system is operating properly. Regular bi-weekly water sampling was
conducted by B.M.G. on October 26-27, 1992. Their outside lab,
Core Laboratory, has not yet returned analytical results of that
sampling. Battle Mountain has been conducting in-house analyses of
their waste stream water and reported that samples taken November 4-5,
1992 show the following results:

Battle Mountain Gold is clearing a pad area at the north est corner of
the main tailings embankment to place their hydrogen per~xide tank for
treatment of the collection pond, as agreed to by Andre' Douchane at
the August hearing.
Jim Stevens and Jim Dillie are reviewing B.M.G.'s respon~es to the
Division's adequacy review of technical revision No. 8 roposed
Modification to the Ground Water Monitoring Plan" and technical
revision no. 9 "Surface Water and Ground Water Containment Plan for
Tailings Area".
RCG/Hagler Bailly, Inc. will start third party sampling vyork on
November 23, 1992 and will be accompanied by the Division's
representative Dr. Harry Posey.
