Ferraro: <br />R}' ].ett.er dated October 5, 1y87, Snowmass requested a modifica- <br />tion to .its CI1PS Permit. t.o eliminate discharge point OU1 because <br />the design of eater tight, seals for the No. 1 Mine c:as appro~'ed <br />by MLR.D on Play 28, 1487 and installation of the seals ryas com- <br />p.Let.ed in July 1481. Snormass suhsequent.ly received approval <br />from the llepartment. of Health t.o eliminate discharge point UU1. <br />During; a site inspection on April 28, ]yR8 seeps mere noted in <br />the vicinity of Lhe Nn. ] Mine portals. As of this date the <br />seepage from the No. 1 Pline portals has heen contained and is <br />he.ing piped t.o a sediment pond. '1'reat.ment, ponds are currently <br />being constructed on site.
