Date (if no date stamp):
RE: Albert Frei. and Sons, Inc.
' Walstrum Aggregate Quarry Permit # 83-033
Adequacy Review "
On behalf of my client Albert Frei"and Sons,-Inc. (ASFI), I
. will respond to your adequacy review letter dated, August 13 in
the order presented in your letter.
`ll~.-'I understand the Division concerns about the"reservoir des-
" ignafions ,and~how 'they may be interpreted in the.fufure. I
agree"-that it is important to have a very clear understand-
ing so"there. is no question-about what we indented in this"
amendment: Aa this time we are not able provide the neces-
sary technical information to show what work"may be neces-
sary to create water storage reservoirs out of the depres-
sions shown on the Reclamation Map. I have attached revised
application pages .that remove any reference to reservoirs or
lakes .and corrected the Reclamation Plan Map and the colored
Reclamation Map located at the, back of the Exhibit E.
I understand the Divisions concern regarding"groundwater at
this site, especially since we-will be creating"two 40 feet
plus feet deep depressions, close to Clear Creek.. Per the
Divisions, request Albert Frei and Sons,. Inc., will notify
the"Division of-Minerals and Geology within 48 hours if
ground water is encountered. If ground water is exposed, it
will be covered immediately with 2 feet of cover until the
necessary permits from the Office of the State Engineering
are obtained and proof submitted to the Division that the
necessary permit has-been approved: With that said it is
important. explain that-this is a rock quarry and as of this
date A.F.S. has not encountered ground water nor do they
expect to: This deposit of rock is a very hard; dense and
solid"block of gneiss and basalt common to the Rocky Moun-
tains. This type of rock has a very limited water carrying
capability. Over the last 15 years holes have been drilled
