The following is in response to your inspection report regarding
the above mentioned pit.
1. Clay Pit--A one acre area at the edge of a previously mined
out portion is being utilized to mine clay (see enclosed map).
The mining will continue in a northwesterly direction at a
depth of approximately 12 feet. The area disturbed annually
will be less than 2 acres.
2. Topsoil Locations--Locations of the topsoil stockpiles are
shown on the enclosed map. Future locations will be along the
edge of mining areas as they are expanded.
3. East Pit--The final reclamation of the East Pit will not
include a pond. Grading shall be done in a manner to form a
shallow depression at a depth above the ground water level.
4. Half Acre East Pit Pond--The pond area is currently being
graded to prevent ground water exposure.
5. Leyden Coal Mine Water--The water being pumped from the Leyden
Coal Mine is purchased from the Public Service Company of
Colorado. Water quality is tested by the Public Service
Company on a monthly basis with the test results being sent to
the Colorado Department of Health, Water Quality Control
Division, Denver, Colorado. The ground water discharge permit
number is CO-000-1279.
