Long,
Division Director
Re: Designation of Contractor and Analytical Laboratory for "Third arty
Sampling"; Battle Mountain Resources' San Luis Project; Permit -88-112
Dear Dean;
After discussions with Mike Long and Bruce Humphries, the Divis on has
completed its designation of the contrac~or and analytical laborator for
BMRI's "Third Party Sampling" abatement requirement. As proposed in my
earlier opinion memo, forwarded to you on August 19, 1992, it is the
Division's opinion that the sampling contract should be awarded to R G/Hagler
Bailly, Inc. with Dr. Ann S. Maest as the project manager and princi al field
investigator. further, it is our opinion that Core laboratories sho ld be
specified as the analytical laboratory.
I have reviewed your proposed modifications to the M.O.U. and c ntract in
response to my comments of August 19th. I find them to be acceptabl I have
also reviewed the "Battle Mountain Gold Company Contractor Safety
Requirements" document and found it to be acceptable as an attachmenk.
I have discussed several reservations we had concerning the spe ifics of
the proposed scope of work with Dr, Maest. As a result of that disc ssion,
I am forwarding thoughts regarding the "Scope of Work" and requested
modifications to the Memo of Understanding.. I will await your retur of an
amended draft for my concurrence.
I remain hopeful that we can finalize the M.O.U. and contract. .Following
our concurrence, I belief it appropriate for BMRI to contact Dr. Mae t to
inform her of her selection and provide her with the contract docume is for
RCG/Hagler, Baiily, Inc.'s execution. I hope that you can obtain pr liminary
acceptance from Dr. Maest prior to the Board hearing scheduled for m d-morning
this Thursday, August 27th. In any case I will update the Board reg riling the
status of this abatement requirement.
Sincerely\yours
Pendleton, PhD.
Tecrnicai & Scientific Coordinator
