(Paragon) and previously
submitted to you, address the abatement and assessment activities conducted to date to identify and
monitor the presence of a groundwater plume.
Soil and Groundwater Abatement Report, dated July 6, 2001
Site Characterzation Report, dated October 9, 2001
Based upon the recommendations of Paragon, an additional groundwater monitoring well was
installed at the site on October 15, 2001. The initial groundwater sample from the newly installed
well and the second quarterly groundwater samples from previously installed wells were collected on
October 18, 2001. A sample was also collected from the dewatering trench at that time. According to
the water analysis report of Technology Laboratory, Inc., a copy of which is enclosed, benzene-
toluene-ethylbenzene-xylenes (BTEX) and total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (TEPH) were
not observed above their respective laboratory detection limits. Paragon also reported that free-phase
product was not observed in the six (6) wells accessed during the October 18, 2001 sampling event.
Paragon is in the process of preparing a Quarterly Monitoring Report regarding this most recent
sampling event and a copy of that report will be submitted to you.
Aggregate industries will continue groundwater monitoring for two additional quarters (January 2001
and April 2001), in accordance with the recommendations contained in Section 7 of Paragon's Site
Characterization Report of October 9. Additionally, Aggregate Industries personnel will continue
with visual oil and grease monitoring of the dewatering trench. Assessment activities completed to
date appear to indicate that there is no significant diesel plume in the groundwater, however should a
Aggregate Industries
West Central Region, Inc.
3605 South Teller Street
Lakewood, CO 80235
Connie Nickle Davis, Support Services
P.
