DMG will take RAGEC's information into account during the NOV assessment process.
One comment that RAGEC stated in the cover letter, dated March 6, 2002, that I would like to clarify is
[he statement, "Note; it is our understanding that the required NPDES sampling frequency for total
recoverable zinc (TR Zn) is monthly as opposed to bimonthly (twice a month), as listed in your letter."
Please understand that NOV C-2002-003 was not written for failure to comply with RAGEC's NPDES
permit but for failure to sample in accordance with the DMG C-1981-044 permit. Please refer to Exhibit
29, page 8 (revised 1/9/93), Table GG2, and page D-2 (revised June 21, 2001) for the approved DMG
water sampling plan. Table GG2 and Exhibit 29 page 8 indicate that total recoverable zinc is to be
collected from NPDES outfall sites 003, 022, and 024 bimonthly.
Please call me at (303) 866-4944 if we need to discuss this further.
Burns, -V
r~nental Protection Specialist
