We are also
notifying the Division that we plan to submit a further request for reclamation responsibility release for 31.0
acres of land within the permit area in the near future.
STATEMENT
Wa certify that we believe that all applicable portions of the Reclamation Plan requirements have been satisfied
in accordance with the Rules and all applicable requirements under the Ad: for the 7.8 saes of land shown on
the attached map.
NARRATIVE
The 7.8 acre area is located on both the former Blasting and Mining, Inc. permit area and Montezuma County
Highway Department permit area, and was partially rrrined by both Four States Aggregates and the County prior
to 2001. The mayor portion of the area was mined, backfilled, graded, and had topsoil replaced in 2001, and
seeded in September 2001. The entire areas has a slope of 1 V:4H ar less, as may be seen in the photos.
Although there was little germination and vegetation in 2002, good, timety rains in the spring of 2003 have
allowed the entire area to produce an excellent stand of grass. Tire area has been maintained and inspected
and is stable; revegetaGon has been successful. Pest control measures will continue in this area (as in other
reclaimed areas) in concert with the property owner, to control weeds in the area; the properly owner will
continue to keep livestock off the area for at least the rest of 2003, to allow thickening of the stand still more,
and to protect against poor moisture condi8ons. See the attached map, which is the 2003 report map, marked
to show the area for which release is requested.
In addi5on to the Meadow Brome (25.81 %), White Yarow (22.75%), Sainfoin (20.82%), and Pubescent
Wheatgress (20.24) (with 10.11% Nomad Alfalfa as a nurse crop) planted in the original mix, other grasses
common in the area are present in the reclaimed area, and weed infestation (primarily thistle) is under control
and being monitored. Please see photos.
The 7.8acre area includes approximately 0.3 acres of permanent roadway (along the western side), and 0.55
saes of water basin. In accordance with the stated desires of fire landowner (see attachment to 2001
reclamation release request), a small basin to catch and hold rein water and snow melt, and the roadway were
left within the reclaimed area, to improve its usefulness for livestock grazing, in accordance with its post-
redamation land use as rangeland. The basin does not expose the groundwater, and based on the precpitafion
received during the year, will probably be ephemeral in nature rather than a permanent pond.
Nav - ,voxe
f} F - S/tea/oµ
