Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
CC: Sandy Brown, DMG
MESSAGE TO RECIPIENT:
Tom and Sandy,
The pages following are objection letters for the Henderson amendment received from the Grand County
Commissioners and from the Forest Service. Also included are letters issued by Henderson in an effort to resolve the
concerns of the objectors. Forthcoming, probably tomorrow, will be the Division's summary of the status of the
amendment application. The Grand County staff want to see something in writing from the Division spelling out
exactly what approval of the amendment would mean before they will consider withdrawing their objections, and I
think that the summary I am working on will do that.
Since the County Commissioners are parties that will attend the pre-hearing conference, and since the commissioners
cannot meet as a group without issuing public notice of their meeting, our pre-hearing conference has been scheduled
as a workshop within the regular commissioner's meeting. I have explained to Bill Gray of the Grand County staff
that the pre-hearing conference is run and governed under MLRB roles, and thus it is our show. He said that is not a
problem. The meeting is set for 1:30, 5-20-03 in the commissioner's meeting room at the Grand County Courthouse
in Hot Sulphur Springs. Sandy, I know you had a preference for a morning meeting; is this going to work for you?
Bear in mind that it takes between 2 and 2.5 hours to get to Hot Sulphur Springs. Do either of you need me to reserve
a minerals program vehicle for you? I will be driving to the conference from Silverthorne and returning to
Silverthorne after the meeting, so I won't be driving with you.
Thanks for your efforts to make a 5-20 conference work!
-Allen
DATE: 5-13-03 NUMBER OF PAGES (including cover sheets): 20
PROGRAM: MINS.
