RE: Seneca II-W Mine Permit C-82-057, NOV C-95-023
Dear Ms. Cresby:
The following comments address the concerns in your January 24,
1996 letter with regard to the abatement plan submitted for NOV C-
95-023 to the Seneca II-W Mine Permit C-82-057. Seneca and
TerraMatrix will clarify these issues in the revision submittal.
1. Seneca feels that the upper portion of Existing New Channel 2
will aid in routing the runoff from the upper reaches of this
drainage area. The revision will include design specifics for
this New Channel 2.
2. Upon closer examination of the Proposed Regrading for the
Existing Graded Area Exhibit, the temporary diversion ditch
around the mentioned stockpile P2 is located on the west side
of the stockpile and not the east side as depicted on the
exhibit. This stockpiled topsoil will be utilized to cover
final pit area reclamation. The pre-mining map does depict two
separate outfalls, but under this revised plan the two
channels will converge at the existing P2 stockpile location.
3. Seneca anticipates that there will be some minor changes to
the post mining topography and the drainage configuration of
the present B Pit area. Those changes will be addressed in
this revision submittal.
4. Seneca will include a tentative schedule with completion dates
for regrading, topsoiling and seeding of the existing graded
area shown on the TerraMatrix exhibits. Seneca will base this
schedule on how soon a final graded area is available to
direct haul the revegetated topsoil that currently covers the
area to be regraded. We would prefer not having to temporarily
stockpile this material and then handle it a second time.
