Watcher
Eaeculive Director
Michael B Long
Division D'veclor
Received a telephone call from Sarah Flick at Larimer County Planning (970) 498-7583. She stated
that she has inspected the Masonville Stone Quarry on 4/12/00 and observed dumping of waste rock
into the riparian area and stream of a side draw to Buckhorn Creek. She said the side draw is a flowing
stream with substantial riparian vegetation. The Operator had attempted, unsuccessfully, to contain the
waste rock through installation of chicken wire.
I instructed Ms. Flick to FAX a complaint letter. I then called and left a detailed voice message for the
Operator, Glenn Southwick (970) 568-3579. I notified the Operator of the complaint and advised that if
dumping into the creek or riparian area were occurring that he should cease. I told him he would be
contacted to schedule an inspection based on the complaint and that if he attempts to clean up the waste
rock he should be very careful not to damage the stream bank or vegetation.

III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII~F COLORADO
c:\windows\personal\masonvi Ile.doc
