SIMPSON, CHIEF, WATER MANAGEMENT BRANCH
SUBJECT: SIEVERS RANCH PIT, GARFIELD COUNTY, APPLICATION FOR
MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMTT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel
pit near Glenwood Springs. Exhibit G, page 20, states that waste water
in the Kaiser-Sievers ditch will serve the mining operation with the small
amount of water needed. If this water is decreed only for irrigation, the
applicant should obtain achange-in-use prior to utilizing the water for
other purposes such as dust control or air pollution control which are
industrial uses. We recommend approval of the application with the condition
that the applicant obtain his change-in-use prior to mining.
~C ~
Hal D. Simpson
HDS/RLS : mvf
