Changes to QA/QC Protocol Manual
Dear Mr. Oehler:
During the February 19, 1993 meeting between DMG, BMRI, and
RCG/Hagler, Bailly, Inc., various changes to the sampling
protocol were discussed. The following modifications to the
approved TR-006 document, QA/QC Protocols for the Collection
of Surface and Ground Water Quality Data, October 1992, will
be implemented during the bi-weekly sampling event for the
week of March 1.
1) A clean filter paper will be placed in the barrel filter
when a barrel filter rinse blank is being collected.
Sections 2.2, 3.2, and 4.2.7 of the QA/QC manual will be
modified.
2) Temperature, pH, specific conductivity, and dissolved
oxygen readings will be taken in the field for each o$ the
process samples. Also, a separate listing of analytical
parameters for the process points will be included in the
manual. Section 4.2.6 of the QA/QC manual will be modified.
3) All field notes will be taken in permanent ink and
entered into a bound notebook with numbered pages. Sections
2.1.2, 2.2.3, 2.2.7, 2.4, 3.2.3, 3.4, 4.2.3, 4.3, and
Appendix B will be modified.
4) All preserved samples will be checked with pH paper to
verify proper pH before shipment to the analytical lab.
Sections 2.1.5, 3.2.2, and 4.2.2 will be modified.
5) The following sampling procedures were discussed during
our meeting. These procedures are currently specified in
the approved protocol. As discussed, BMRI will follow the
procedures outlined below:
- Final de-ionized water from the BMRI lab will be used for
equipment rinsing.
- The field parameters instrument will be calibrated after
3-5 samples are collected and after collection of a sample
that differs significantly from the following sample.
- The field instrument automatically indicates when a Single
reading has stabilized. The stability for each field
parameter will be reached before sampling.
