E <br />S cor ~•m <br />May 17, 2004 <br />Mr. Daniel Mathews <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />110 South 3`~, Suite 301 <br />Grand Junction, CO 81501 <br />(970) 242-5025 <br />RE: Seneca II-W Mine Permit #C-82-057 <br />NOV CV-2003-014 Extension Request <br />Mr. Mathews, <br />Seneca Coal Com <br />As you have seen in your previous inspection visits, SCC has been diligently working on the azeas specified in <br />the NOV CV-2003-014 as they become accessible and are continuing to do so as weather conditions and soil <br />moisture conditions permit The rill and gully repairs and culvert installation have been completed. <br />However, the complete repair and placement of riprap in Channels 005 Gulch, 006-E1, 006-E2, and 006- <br />NEI will not be completed by the deadline due to climatic conditions (snow and rain) that have precluded <br />early access to these channels with heavy equipment. <br />In regazd to the abatement of NOV CV-2003-014 Step 2, SCC respectfully requests an extension to the May <br />19, 2004 deadline for abatement of Step 2 (implementation and completion). This extension request is in <br />conformance with Rule 5.03.2(2)(c)(iv).
