Box 1430 <br />Palisade, Colorado 81526 <br />RE: Mid-term Review Issues <br />File C-81-081 <br />Dear Mr. Reschke: <br />This letter is to clarify that, based on discussions at our meeting <br />on September 29, it was agreed that you would be submitting initial <br />responses to the Mid-Term review letter by October 23, 1995. It is <br />understood that plans submitted in the initial submittal may be <br />somewhat conceptual in nature, but will contain sufficient detail <br />for the Division to consider and evaluate proposed approaches to <br />the issues which are of primary concern to Powderhorn. It is <br />anticipated that following submittal of the preliminary response, <br />a meeting could be arranged between appropriate DMG and Powderhorn <br />personnel, after which the submittal could be modified as necessary <br />and submitted as a revision application. It there are any <br />remaining unresolved issues pertaining to TR-20, they would be <br />addressed at the same meeting. <br />On a separate matter, I contacted Wayne Cooley, CSU Extension <br />Agronomist for Delta County regarding use of the Dupont herbicide, <br />"Oust" for cheatgrass control. He indicated that the product was <br />recommended for control of cheatgrass in established grass stands, <br />but it would not be recommended for early spring application prior <br />to germination of planted seedlings, as residual herbicide in the <br />soil would likely damage the young plants. Mr. Cooley recommended <br />the use of "Roundup" in this situation. <br />As we discussed, the North Decline Revegetation plan submitted <br />previously should be submitted as a minor revision. Given the <br />relative success of shrub seedings at other Roadside reclamation <br />sites, I would recommend that shrubs be included in the seedmix as <br />
