The lined drainage ditch was constructed at the hillside -pond
interface to carry upland runoff azound the pond and to provide surface drainage from the
pond surface when final grade was established to contain this volume. Surface drainage
from the capped pond azea was planned to drain into the diversion ditch along its entire
length. This maximum volume estimate was approximately 80,000 cubic yards higher
than actual requirements and SGC did not have borrow material to wver this shortage
without creating major disturbances that would require additional permitting and
reclamation. Therefore using the available material, the grading plan was modified
without changing the reclamation concept which entails draining the pond surface to the
hillside -pond diversion ditch.
