Colorado 81641 0~~~:.on nrteao~ <br />Re: Meeker Area Mines (Permit No. C-81-032) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 12 <br />Partial Sediment Pond Removal and Reestablishment of Cubs Creek at the Rienau No. 2 Mine <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October 15, 1996, an application to revise <br />coal mining operations at the Meeker Area Mines was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The <br />revision was submitted by Enron Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and <br />the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The revision addresses the partial reclamation of the two sediment ponds at the Rienau No. 2 Mine site and the <br />reestablishment of Curtis Creek in its original channel location. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately nine miles north of Meeker, Colorado. <br />The perrnit area is further described as follows: <br />Rienau No. 2 Mine: 5 acres in the center of Section 29, T2N, R93W <br />Northern No. I Mine: 7.1 acres in the SE NW of Section 21, T2N, R93W <br />Refuse Facility: 4.1 acres in the N SE of Section 20, T2N, R93W <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Rattlesnake Mesa and <br />Ninemile Gap. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Rio Blanco County <br />Courthouse, Box 599, Meeker, Colorado 81641, and at the Division office. For additional information or to <br />provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request <br />that comments be submitted within fifteen (]5) days of this letter.
