Interoffice a-Mail
to: Joe Dudash
from: Byron G. Walker
subject: Request for Support, TR-34 to Bowie No. 2 Mine, C-96-083, Conveyor
date: May 12, 2004
reference: Your memo of May 11, 2004
I have reviewed the geotechnical issues that may be involved with the proposal. I believe it is ok.
There are no land surface changes that would be a problem. The road up to the proposed transfer
building results in revised contours with slopes no steeper than those already approved. (The road
is steeper, not checked for compliance.) The fill area, if compacted as designed, should handle
the relatively light weight of the conveyor and transfer building. The area for the transfer building
(top of the spoil pile) is enlarged, but proposed cut slopes aze no steeper that those already
approved.
There are no changes in contours to indicate ground access for the conveyor from the vegetation
line to the coal storage pile pad (a reach of transverse slopes). Is this reach to be prepared for
construction of foundations and access like other reaches of conveyor?
Materials provided are returned.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cc: Dan Hernandez, Sandy Brown
Files: Support, C-96-083
