iii~ti~~u~~~iiuii~ <br />Public Notice <br />Lorencito Coal Company, 1311 Bentwood Drive, Evansville, Indiana 47711, has filed with the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, an application for a technical revision to permit C- <br />96-084 for the Lorencito Canyon Mine located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, <br />Colorado, Townships 33 and 34 South, Range 66 West, Section 33 and other unplatted lands on <br />the Hill Ranch. The Hill Ranch is generally located southeast of Weston, Colorado. The mine <br />permit area is approximately bounded by the South Fork of the Purgatoire River on the west, <br />Highway 12 on the north, Lorencito and Bonita Canyons on the east and little Alamosa Canyon <br />on the south. Map 2.03.4-1 and Exhibit 2 of the permit application contain the lengthy, detailed <br />legal description. These lands can be located on the Tercio, Weston, and Little Pine Canyon <br />USGS topographica17.5 minute quadrangle reaps. <br />Lorencito Coal Company has provided information to respond to stipulations placed on the permit <br />concerning cultural resource surveys and geotechnical stability studies for ponds and waste <br />material. <br />This information will allow the Division to approve disturbance for proposed operational facilities. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the County Clerk's office, <br />Las Animas County Courthouse, Trinidad, Colorado. <br />Written comments on the application may be submitted to, and additional information obtained <br />from the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado <br />80203, (303)866-3567. <br />
