The Division
has the following comments.
The last subsidence monitoring was completed in May of 1989,
following the permit renewal. Prior to this, the company performed
their last monitoring in 1986, following active mining. The May,
1989 monitoring detected a maximum of 0.3 feet of residual vertical
subsidence had occurred during the three year lapse. None of the
protected and monitored structures has ever evidenced any
subsidence.
The Division concurs with your request to permanently cease
subsidence monitoring at the Red Canyon Mine, with the provision
that monitoring will be reinitiated if any evidence of renewed
subsidence is discovered. Also, the Division requires that all
monuments remain in tact so that monitoring could be reinitiated,
if necessary.
Minrec should submit a revised page (to the original submittal),
which discusses the above requirements, to be inserted into the
permit document. Upon receipt of an appropriate revised page, the
Division will issue a proposed approval of your technical revision.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,,- -
i~. ~%
°"
Christine Johnstlon
Reclamation Specialist
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
STATE OF COLORADO
