~~ - ~-°i ~ III IIIIII!IIIIIIIII
~~ ~~ L~
Memorandum
To: Jim Pendleton ix Jim Burnell
From: Larry Routten
Date: 03/30/99
Re: Roadside TR-29; C Seam mine Plans
Dan Mathews and I would like your assistance in reviewing a submittal from
Powderhorn Coal Company which proposes to move their mining operation into a
new seam of coal. (the C seam). This submittal only covers approximately 300
acres so, we are handling it as a technical revision. If conditions turn out to be
favorable, the company may expand and continue mining in the C seam in the
future.
At this time, we need you to review their submittal for adequacy in regard to
subsidence projections and monitoring and, groundwater hydrology matters. In
addition to reviewing the plans presented in the revision application, you may also
need to ensure that any required baseline information is included in the permit prior
to approval of this revision. The proposed mining is within the present permit area;
however, there were never any plans for mining the C seam prior to now.
Dan would like to have cornmenls from your reviews by April /5 in order to get nn
adequacy Letter out on time. /have given each of you a copy of the text of the
revision application. Maps are sitting [text to t/te /N box on the table in my office, sn
each of you can access them. Please return all the application materials tome
whenever all our adequacy questions are addressed so /can get them filed in the
permit.
Thanks
Cc: Dan Mathews
