~ • iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
~a,~~-~~
. APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENT OF 112 PERMIT NUMBER M-84-041
EXHIBIT J - VEGETATION INFORMATION
Vegetation cover is classified as "rare". Natural plant species
are mostly shrubs dominated by sagebrush and greasewood. Some
lesser shrubs are present such as winterfat, low rabbit brush and
salt brush. Also present are Russian knapweed, Russian thistle
and mustard. A substantial stand of mature pinyon and juniper are
present on the top of the ridge covering the majority of the area
to be affected by the mining operation of this application. It is
estimated that the stand is comprised of 608 pinyon and 408
juniper. 10 to 158 of the juniper trees are dead.
EXHIBIT K - CLIMATE
The area of the site is classified as Zone VI climate. This
describes an area of less than 12" of annual precipitation,
moderately cold climate at elevations ranging from 6500 feet to
7200 feet. Seasonal temperatures are reported to range from 18 F
to 66 F, however, temperatures considerably colder and warmer have
been observed at the site. The area is located in the rain shadow
of the Flat Top uplift to the west which appears to cause
precipitation to "jump" the area. Considerably more precipitation
may be observed both to the west and to the east of the site than
is experienced on the site.
EXHIBIT L - RECLAMATION COSTS
Reclamation costs for this site are estimated as follows:
(a) machine time: buldozer to spread topsoil-overburden estimated
at 4 hours per acre at $75/acre = $300/acre. It is estimated that
a track mounted backhoe would reclaim the haul road at
approximately the same cost per acre.
(b) labor: one manhour per acre at gross cost of $15.00/hr
(c) seed $2.00/pls @ 26 pls/acre = $52/acre.
(d) 108 miscellaneous and contingency = $37/acre.
Total estimated cost per acre = $404
Maximum area of disturbance = 15 acres.
15 acres at $404/acre = $6060
