Long <br />Division Director <br />The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the <br />Foidel Creek Mine. The technical revision would allow for the relocation of a <br />portion of County Road No. 27 and construction of retaining structures to <br />prevent damage to the road caused by spalling of Sandstone Cliffs located <br />above the road. <br />The Foidel Creek Mine is located approximately 23 miles southwest of Steamboat <br />Springs, Colorado. The area affected by this revision is located in <br />Sections 29, 30, and 31, Township 5 North, Range 67 West. These tracts of <br />land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Rattlesnake Butte. <br />Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter <br />previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are <br />requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to cultural <br />and historic resources, pursuant to the May, 1991, MOU between our agencies. (~ - <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted to Kent Gorham, Division of Minerals and Geology at the <br />above address by 5:00 p.m. on February 10, 1995. If no comments are received <br />by this date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no <br />concerns with or objections to the applicant's proposal. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public <br />inspection at the Routt County Courthouse in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. <br />
