Box 591
Somerset CO 81434
Re: West Elk MR-291 Adequacy letter
Deaz Mr. Barbe:
The Division has received and reviewed MCC's submittal of MR-291 for the addition of a drill
pad with three angled drillholes for methane degas operations in panel 17.
The Division requests that Mountain Coal Company submit a map to indicate the location of this
new disturbance in relation to previous disturbance. Specifically, the location of the new
disturbance and the extended panel 17 in relation to the permit azea. Also, the map included with
the submittal, while showing excellent detail, does not include a key. It's not cleaz what part of
the dashed line (or lines) represents new construction.
As you aze well awaze, the Division is unable to approve this revision until MCC receives
approval from the US Forest Service indicating that permission has been granted for surface
access to the site.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
,~%~~
6km Burnell
Environmental Protection Specialist
