Box 68
Craig, CO 81625
RE: Eagle 5 & 9 Mines, (C-81-044); Permit Renewal No. 2.
Division's Replies to Adequacy Responses.
Dear Mr. Middleton:
oe cow
,~~ 4
'~
~"
Ruy Rnmr~
Guvemo~
Mlrhael8 Long
Dinsion Dbeaar
It was nice to meet you on January 21, 1994 during our discussion of plans for the Okie
Plaza Well and other outstanding issues involved with the Eagle No. 5 and 9 permit. Our
groundwater hydrologist has been able to review the partial responses Cyprus Empire Corp.
(CEC) provided in response to the Division's adequacy letter dated September 10, 1993.
The Division's reply to CEC in regards to these responses are as follows: (The numbering
is consistent with the Division's adequacy letter of September 10, 1993 and CEC's response
received January 21, 1994.)
II. Annual Hydrology Review
B. The response to this concern is adequate and will be relevant only
until the Okie Plaza is mined through in 1994.
III. Renewal Application Review
B. 6. The response to this concern is adequate. Please be reminded that the
Division still needs to receive the revised pages 2.05.6-14 and 2.05.6-13.
11. The fourth paragraph on page 2.04.7-2 of the PAP needs to be
clarified so that the reader understands that the source of the drainage
to the mine workings is only the Middle Sandstone. The statement
that currently appears in the PAP, "This decline is probably related to
drainage of the sandstones to the No. 5 mine workings", which
immediately follows a statement that "Ground water levels have
declined in both the Middle and Trout Creek Sandstones", implies that
the drainage to the mine workings is from both of the sandstone units.
