Schaubs R.G.
RE: Cottonwood Pit, File No. M-1986-010
Operator: Fremont County,
Contact: Kenneth Klco (719) 942-4178
Section 36, Twp 16 S, Rng 73 W, 6th P.M., Fremont County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or afrer mining operations.
^ The proposed operation will consume ground water by: ^ evaporation, ^ dust control, ^
reclamation, ^ water removed in the mined product, ^ processing, ^ other:.
Prior to initiation of these uses of ground water, the applicant will need to obtain either a gravel pit
or other type of well permit, as applicable. However, prior [o obtaining a permit, an approved water
supply plan or decreed plan for augmentation is required.
^ Prior to approving a well permit, the applicant must conduct a field inspection of the site and
document the locations of all wells within 600 feet of the permit area. The applicant must then
obtain a waiver of objection from all well owners with wells within 600 feet of the permit area or
request a hearing before the Slate Engineer.
^ Other:
COMMENTS: The pit size is being expanded from 9.9 acres to 48.4 acres. The operation will not use
water to process product. Storm water runoff will be contained within a bermed area, but is not expected to
form standing water because of high percolation rates within the gravel materials. If storm water runoff
does not infilVate within 72 hours, the water must be pumped out of the pit, or a substitute water supply plan
must be obtained for holding [he water.
