TRAPPER MINING INC.
July 3, 2002
Ms. Janet Binns
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Deaz Ms. Binns:
~Re: Trapper Mining Inc., Perwit No. C-81-010
Minor Revision MR-184, Mine Plan Updates for F & G Pits
RECEIVED
'JUL Q 8 2002
Division of Minerals b Geology
Please find enclosed permit revision application materials for MR-184--mine plan updates for
Flintlock and Gatling Pits. No modifications to engineered structures are necessitated by this
revision and the existing reclamation bond remains adequate to cover the worstcase scenario
anticipated to occur under current permit term development plans.
To process this revision the following changes are proposed to be incorporated into the permit
document:
1) Map M-9 (sheets 2 and 3)
2) Map M-l0A (sheet 3)
3) Map M-lOB (sheets 2 and 3)
Map M-9 (sheet 2) is revised to show a new ramp into East Flintlock Pit and to eliminate some
previously proposed ramps. Map M-9 (sheet 3) is revised to show a proposed new ramp into the
dip-line cuts in the eastern portion of Gatling Pit and to update several currently built ramps into
East Ashmore Pit.
Map M-l0A (sheet 3) is revised to adjust mining disturbance Limits to include "dip-line" cuts in
the eastern portion of Gatling Pit. These cuts will remove shallow overburden in 2002 in order
to access and remove the H coal seam. This is the only portion of Gatling Pit where the H seam
can be economically mined. Future Gatling Pit mining will employ strike-line mining techniques
moving up the hill from north to south and will be designed to go after the deeper coal seams.
The proposed scoria pit is also removed from this map because it will not be mined during the
current permit term.
Map M-lOB (sheet 2) is revised to demonstrate slightly more proposed topsoil-stripping advance
(15.0 acres) during 2002 on the eastern edge of Flintlock Pit. Map M-1 OB (sheet 3) is revised to
adjust 2002 topsoil salvage limits in Gatling Pit (12.1 acres) and to remove the proposed topsoil
salvage outline for the scoria pit (25.1 acres).
Table MR-184-1 is included with this submittal for informational purposes only and
demonstrates that the proposed changes will not cause an increase in either topsoil disturbance or
lineal feet of open pit that would require an increase in the current bond amount.
