MANAGEMENT <br />RECEIVED <br />SEP 0 g 2000 <br />Division GI Minerals 8 Geology <br />On behalf of Bowie Resources Limited, (BRL), enclosed is an application for a technical <br />revision to provide for longwall mining in Federal and private coal at the west end of the <br />D2 longwall panel and at the western edge of BLR's fee coal in the D3 longwall panel. <br />Project Description <br />The approved mine plan, revised through technical revision no. 13, provides for <br />longwall mining in the D1, D2 and D3 panels but only in private coal. The right to enter <br />the Federal Coal is provided by BRL's Federal Coal Lease COC-61209. This technical <br />revision application will allow longwall mining in private and Federal coal at the west <br />end of the D2 panel and at the western edge of BRL's fee coal property in the D3 panel. <br />Approximately 904,000 tons of private coal and 286,000 tons of Federal coal will be <br />recovered as a result of the approval of this technical revision application as follows: <br /> D2 Panel D3 Panel Totals <br />Private Coal (tons) 94,000 810,000 904,000 <br />Federal Coal (tons) 161,000 125,000 286,000 <br />Total (tons) 255,000 935,000 1,190,000 <br />Permit and Affected Area <br />No change. Therefore, there are no new structures or resources that have not already <br />been accounted for in the Bowie No. 2 Mine permit application. <br />
