The Colorado Wildlife Commission and the Division <br />of Wildlife are directed by statute to "protect. preserve, <br />enhance, and manage the wildlife and their environment for the <br />use, benefit, and enjoyment of the people of this state and its <br />visitors. <br />WHEREAS, wildlife provides important economic, aesthetic, <br />educational, recreational, and social values. <br />WHEREAS, The Commission recognizes that Colorado is a <br />dynamic state in which growth and economic development is and <br />should be taking place. <br />WHEREAS. wildlife interests must also be viewed as a part of <br />a healthy economy. <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board's <br />decision to overrule the Division of Minerals and Geology's <br />denial of a Permit Revision request by Colorado Yampa Coal <br />Company has a large negative impact on wildlife. <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Yampa Coal Company made committments <br />to wildlife habitat reclamation in 1951. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wildlife Commission <br />supports the Division oC Minerals and Geology's decision to deny <br />the Permit Revision. <br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Wildlife Commission <br />strongly encourages the Colorado Yampa Coal Company to honor its <br />original agreements with the Division of Wildlife and the <br />Division of Minerals and Geology. <br />DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Kenneth Salazar, Executive Director <br />WILDLIFE COMMISSION, William R.
