Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised
Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on
June 17, 1993, a technical revision application for a permit to conduct coal
mining operations by Basin Resources, Inc., 14300 Highway 12, Weston,
Colorado 81091, was deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews
and comment periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated
thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the
Golden Eagle Mine. The subject technical revision addresses 1993 exploration
drilling. Ten exploration holes are planned to be drilled.
The legal description of the lands included within the permit area that will
be affected by this technical revision is as follows:
T33S, R67W, Section 16 NW 1/4 NW 1/4
T33S, R67W, Section 17 NW 1/4
Unsurveyed lands of the Maxwell Land Grant
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map
of Vigil.
Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter
previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are
requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened
or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise
protected by federal law. Applicable sections of the revision application are
enclosed. Please advise us if you require additional information.
In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that
comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology at the above
address by 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 1993. If no comments are received by this
date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no concerns with
or objections to the applicant's proposal.
