Colowyo's discharge permit has Alternate Limitations for any discharge
caused by the precipitation within any 24-hour period of less than or equal to the 10-year, 24-hour
precipitation event (or snowmelt of equivalent volume). Settleable solids has an alternate daily maximum
dischazge limit of 0.5 mg/1 and the discharge measured 580 mg/1. The total dissolved solids measured
280 mg/1 and has no daily limit. Total suspended solids (TSS) measured 14900 mg/1 and iron measured
249 mg/l. There are no effluent limitations for TSS and iron when claiming the Alternate Limitations.
Colowyo is offering the following information in accordance with the above-mentioned permit:
• Water in the Gulch A pond was discharging through the riser pipe. The area had received 1.8" of
~p between February 18 through February 22 which is unseasonable for this azea. In addition, the
increase in temperature was causing the snowpack to melt and as a result, there was an extremely
high amount of surface nmoff (rain ontop of snow and snowmelt) draining into the Gulch A pond.
• Outfa11004A was discharged datt~ry 21 through ~ 29.
• Colowyo will dredge the Gulch A pond during the forthcoming summer m~nths and this is expected.
to eliminate any future concern with respect to settleable solids. -/ ~ - / "~rD!-Y~ f0~~'~ bC-
~., ~D ./,aryl.
a9 ~"' ~ P
