Long <br />FROM: Erica Crosby (/~~-// °i""°°O1PC1Of <br />On October 7, 1994 Notice of Violation C-94-028 was written to NCIG <br />Financial for "failure to pass surface drainage from a disturbed <br />area through a sediment pond before leaving the permit area and <br />failure to. design and maintain diversions that lead into the <br />sediment pond." The area that pertains to this violation is the <br />diversion ditch east of the sediment pond labeled ditch #6 on the <br />attached map. <br />The Coal Ridge mine site has recently been reclaimed by the <br />operator. Ditch #6 was installed with no approved designs. The <br />ditch was full of sediment and water during the inspection and was <br />breached in one area (see slides 2-4). The breach was roughly 2' <br />wide and 1 1/2' deep (see attached map for location). The breached <br />area is noted in slide #1. <br />implemented 5 days after DMG approval of TR-lo. <br />The operator was required to repair the breached ditch by October <br />12, 1994. Janet Binns of the office inspected the site on October <br />12, 1994 and noted that the ditch has been repaired. The operator <br />was also required to submit designs for ditch #6.
