RECLAMATION DIVISION
1313 Sherman St. EXHIBIT #
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Computerized tree planting model for Snyder Quarry
Amendment.
Your File NO.: M-77-210
Dear Mr. Hernandez:
Enclosed is a copy of the computerized model of the
environmental and numerical relationships of the vegetation,
soil water conditions, and planting scheme for tree planting
at the Snyder Quarry Amendment area. This plan is submitted
on behalf of Castle Concrete Company.
Please note that the modeling of the conditions indicates
that a planting of 40 to 50 trees per acre, based upon a
uniform planting over the entire area, will create a final
cover of about SOq and density of 80 to 100 trees per acre
on those areas of the benches where it would be appropriate
to plant trees. We utilized a minimum growth medium depth
for tree planting of 30 inches. Furthermore, i[ appears
from this computer model that the plant growth medium should
be capable of supporting both a healthy tree growth and
adequate grass and shrub density to protect the land from
erosion.
At the end of the narrative we have also proposed a
definition of tree establishment to be included in the
permit as the requirements far bond release.
If you have any questions please call.
Respectfully,
Mark A. Heffner
ENCL.: Tree planting model narrative and printouts.
cc: Gordon Morgan, Castle Concrete Company
G. Scott Briggs, Counsel for Castle Concrete Company
