Value derived from one baseline sample
considerably higher than other baseline samples (others are less than 40 mg/L) and during
production (less than 20 mg/L). In the case of We1121-2, the highest baseline value was not
used as the EWI.
Would values that fall above the established NPL be a violation?
Silica
We1120-8 for Silica, listed as "report" rather than a permit condition value. The baseline values
(less than 30 mg/L) are much lower than production values (over 40 mg/L).
Total Dissolved Solids
Well 21-3A (NPL) one high baseline sample of 34,700 mg/L for TDS used to establish the NPL
at the point of compliance, but remaining values of baseline and after production fall around
20,000 mg/L.
Fluoride
We1121-3A (NPL) one high baseline sample of 56 mg(L fluoride used to establish the NPL at the
point of compliance, but most values of baseline and during production are less than 40 mg/L.
We1121-3B (NPL) two baseline readings above 75 mg/L fluoride, but remaining values from
baseline and production fall below 50 mg/L.
Possible exceedances with new NPL and EWI standards:
American Soda proposes new NPL and EWI standards for a number of water quality permit
condition values. Based on the new standards proposed, American Soda may exceed a number
of the newly established standards based on what they have sampled to date. The following is a
list of wells that will fall above the newly established NPL or EWI for the given standard:
Conductivity:
• 28-1 (EWI)
• 21-5 (EWI)
• 21-3U tNPL)
• 29-3 (EWI)
• 21-4a (EWI)
• 21-3b (NPL)
Potassium:
• 28-1 (EWI)
• 21-5 (EWI)
