MANAGEMENT
May 31, 2003
J. J. The NALCO 7880 clarification agent is Aluminum
based. The water which is treated with the clarification agent is discharged from Pond
C. This clarified water flows into the Deer Trail Ditch and or the Fire Mountain Canal.
Pages 2.04-38 and 2.04-39 were updated to include a discussion of mine inflows and
the use of the clarification aid. The historical reference to other mines was originally
incorporated into the permit as a basis for a projection of mine inflows into the Bowie
No. 2 Mine. Since the Bowie No. 2 Mine has current mine inflow data, the historic
reference to other mines in the area was deleted.
Pages 2.05-73, 73i, 73ii and 74 were updated to evaluate the effect the clarification aid
will have on the prevailing hydrologic balance.
The following data are enclosed to support this technical revision application:
1. Amended pages 2.04-38 & 39, 2.05-73, 73i, 73ii and 74
2. Updated discharge permit
3. Material Safety Data Sheet for NALCO 7880 clarification agent.
4. Two pages from regulation no. 35 referenced above.
The material safety data sheet should be filed in the permit with the updated discharge
permit. The two pages from regulation no. 35 are provided for easy reference and are
not intended to be incorporated into the permit.
