Box 518
Somerset, CO 81434
RE: Renewal Response Technical Revision, Bear Mines 1, 2, and 3,
C-81-033
Dear Mr. Bear:
On August 31, 1992, we received the above-referenced technical
revision. The application was deemed complete as of September 9,
1992 and a decision is due no later than November 9, 1992. Our
review of your bond estimate will be forwarded shortly. Please
request a continuance, since you will probably not be able to respond
to this review in time to allow a November 9th decision.
Application Page
The application page indicates 160 acres of federal surface
ownership. We assume that this acreage is located within the
N1/2, N1/2, Section 21, and SW1/4, NW1/4, Section 21, and is
U.S. Forest Service (USFS) property. Upon reviewing the Surface
Ownership Map (Map 1), there still seems to be a discrepancy.
Based on the Map 1, it appears that the Atlantic Richfield
ownership boundary, overlaps the USFS boundary. When digitized,
the probable USFS area encompasses about 205 acres, and if the
Atlantic Richfield overlap is excluded, the acreage is reduced
to about 135 acres. Please clarify the total acreage numbers,
and adjust the Surface Ownership Map accordingly.
Insurance Document
1. The provided document is adequate.
MdDS
1. Please revise the Coal Ownership Map (Map 2) to show the
specific boundaries of Leases D-044569 and D-052501.
