Phone, Other)Phone (970)-724-3437
Person(s) Contacted and Affiliation: Mr. Jim Perry of BLM-Kremmling Office called Division.
SUMMARY AND RESOLUTION OF INTERACTION:
Jim contacted the Division concerning a telephone conversation he had with Mr. Jerry Koblitz
of Greystone, consultant for Slurco, regarding reduction of the woody plant density standard
on the Canadian Mine. Jim had met with the BLM Wildlife Biologist and Range
Conservationist and they had discussed this reduction. The BLM Kremmling office was in
agreement that it was OK to accept what shrubs currently exist out there. Jim was asking
what we would need from their office. I said we would need a letter confirming that they
concur with the reduced shrub density. If they have supporting reasons; high density of
surrounding shrublands, small area, not critical habitat, it would be helpful to include those
reasons. He said he'd send me a letter and copy the OSM. I mentioned that the Division
has not received a revision from the operator but it is OK for BLM to send a letter prior to a
revision being submitted. I reminded him that the Division still would need to get
concurrence from DOW as well.
