Gunnison No. 1 !fine by West
Elk Coal Company (ARCO/Anaconda) on March 1, 1983. Our review of the
submittal shows that the implications of the changes are not as simple as
represented, and that additional information and narrative explanation will be
required before the changes in the mining plan can be approved.
Conversations between OSM's Project Leader for Mt. Gunnison, Walter Swain, anc
Robert Liddle of your staff, confirmed that both agencies have identified
essentially the same issues. Specifically, these include adequate discussion
of potential changes in surface subsidence and stability, replacement of the
subsidence test panel with another which is suitably representative and
timely, and submittal of adequate replacement mining sequence and timing maps.
Other problems may be identified as identified issues are explored.
Paige Be vine at Anaconda Minerals has stated
my staff, that BLM has accepted the proposed
have not yet received confirmation from BI.P1.
events as CMLRD reviews this proposed change.
assistance, please do not hesitate to call on
(303) 837-5656.
in telephone conversations with
=hanges in coal recovery.
