M-77-344, Ideal Basic Industries, Inc.,
Portland Limestone Quarry.
Dear Mr. Patterson:
We think using sewage sludge in place of chemical fertilizers is generally a
good idea but need four questions answered:
1. How is the sludge treated to kill pathogens?
2. What are the heavy metal concentrations in the sludge?
3. What are the plant nutrient levels present in the sludge and at what
rate will it be applied?
4. Is the area which will be treated isolated enough from the Arkansas
River or other drainages so sludge from surface erosion will not enter
the surface waters?
Please try to answer these questions prior to April 21 and the technical
revision can be considered at the April 22-23, 1987 Board meeting.
Sincerely,
tl -
/ ~ ~-
Carl B.
