III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Walker, Byron 999
From: Bob Postle [BPOSTLECo3wscgw.osmre.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2001 11:28 AM
To: Henry Austin
Subject: North Thompson Creek Mine Phase II Bond Release
Henry,
I have reviewed the Phase II bond release application for the North Thompson Creek Mine. Based on the 2001
revegetation success sampling report information and data provided the company has demonstrated that vegetation is
established as required for Phase II. In fact, the reclaimed areas exceed the Phase III revegetation success standards for
cover, production and diversity.
Regarding your interest in Mr. Daylan Figg's concern with the sampling of the North Thompson Mine's seperate reclaimed
parcels. Review of the map information provided with the report shows that sampled parcels are in very close proximity to
each other and some of the smaller units are too small to seperate out and sample in a logical manner. Given the limited
size of the total reclaimed area (45.6 acres) combining these into a single sample unit would be appropriate and OSM
should defer to the State's decision to allow sampling as a single unit.
If you have any questions please contact me
Bob
