Lang
Division Dveanr
I have completed a preliminary review of items submitted in support of the above mentioned
technical revision application. Following are comments and questions regarding the proposal.
Larry Routten voiced some concerns in his memo dated February 18, 1994. [have answers
to some of those concerns:
The berm northwest of the Borrow Area 1 sump does not route water uphill when the borrow
area has been graded to post mine contours.
There is a 30" CMP at the CRDA 2 access road to convey runoff from the East Collection
Ditch to Pond 10. The runoff previously made a 90° turn to the three CMP's that enter Pond
10 further north. They had problems with it and, after consultation with Janet, decided to
route the runoff to the pond in a more direct fashion.
The stream diversion below CRDA 3 is already permitted.
Page 150 says the road will not be maintained beyond Borrow Area 2, which is probably
appropriate.
Pond 11 has an approved NPDES discharge outfall, but it will be moved.
The borrow areas are bonded, but very generally (rough guess of volume and haul). I would
suggest editing the bond estimate tasks to specify the actual volumes and haul distances that
would be moved.
