Peter Matthies regazding the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine permit. We
reviewed the conservation measures taken by New Castle (Storm King) Mines outlined
in the February 7, 1985 Biological Opinion issued by the Service. The payment of
$5,313.43 mentioned in the Biological Opinion to cover the water depletion was paid as
documented in Mr. Matthies information he recently sent the Service. As long as no
additional disturbance to ripazian vegetation or other habitats is planned or conducted
the Service has no objections to the permit.
If the Service can be of further assistance, please contact Terry Ireland of the Grand
Junction office at (303) 243-2778 or FTS 322-0351.
Sincerely,
eith L.
