Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. The
revision was called complete on October 13, 2006. The decision due date is December 12, 2006.
In Technical Revision No. 44, Bowie Resources LLC is proposing to expand gob pile no. 2 to the west,
until it merges with gob pile no. 1. Originally, gob pile no. 2 was to have a capacity of 2,000,000 cubic
yards. However, the capacity was reduced to 800,000 cubic yards due to a reduction in the outslope angle
of the pile. The expansion of the pile through this revision would increase the capacity of the pile to
1,075,000 cubic yards. The drainage control and hydrology designs in this area would be modified.
However, all drainage from the gob piles would still be directed into either sediment pond D or sediment
pond F. All disturbance is on land owned by Bowie Resources LLC and is within the currently approved
permit area.
This revision is available for review at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, CO 81428.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
U,,~.a Y,
os`J e h J. ~udash
P
Environmental Protection Specialist
JJD/Ahd
M:\DS$WHD\TEMP\C-CI-01 CI996083 J1D 10132006085301.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines
