III IIIIIIIIIIIII III <br />999 <br />FINANCIAL WARRANTY REQUIItEMENT RE-EVALUATION <br />SAN LUIS PROJECT M-88-112 <br />November 13, 2001 <br />TASKS AND COST ESTIMATES FOR REMAINING RECLAMATION OBLIGATIONS: <br />WEST PIT WATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM <br />ASSUMPTIONS <br />In order to clean up the West pit backfill (reduce sulfate levels to 250 mg/L or les;), an additional <br />394,000,000 gallons of water need to be extracted and processed. <br />The nano-filtration process is the only system available to clean up the water - Co>t equals <br />$5.25/I000 gallons treated and this will be a 12 month operation. <br />The total pump rate from the West pit is anticipated to be l80 gpm in order to maintain a <br />groundwater level of 8580 feet msl. <br />It will take approximately 4.0 years to pump and treat the above-noted volumes of water. <br />WATER MANAGEMENT TREATMENT AND ESTIMATED COSTS <br />394.000,000 gallons x $5.25/1000 gallons = $2,068,500 <br />Monitor 9 wells at l sample/month at $100.00/sample = $10,800/year <br />$10,800/year times 4.0 years = $43,200 <br />CDPS discharge monitoring - 12 months times 4 samples/month times $200.00/sample = <br />$9,600/year <br />$9,600/year times 4.0 years = $38,400 <br />Yearly water loss from the West pit ponds and sludge production is approximately 6 acre-feet. <br />Yearly water loss from brine water and backfill water pumped to the tailings pond is <br />approximately - 108 acre-feet. <br />Yearly water loss from watershed due to tailings pond retention of snowmelt and direct rain fall <br />is approximately - 10 acre-feet. <br />Water lease costs = $ l ,000Iac-fUyear(per Dennis Felmlee, water broker, Alamosa) x 4.0 years x <br />124 ac-f[ _ $496.000 <br />Total - $2,068,500 + $43,200 + $38,400 + $496,000 = $2,646,100 <br />Contractor's Overhead and Profit - 13.1% _ $346.639 <br />
